Just took a look here in Quantum Design and realized how barren and empty this blog site appears. That’s because at this point it IS empty and bare. That’s the result of not actually having a purpose or need. My bad. But I create many blogs like this just because I can. I say that over and over.

Time and Material*
I decided to open a new avenue for design in 3D printing. I intend to order a new Snapmaker U1 4 color FDM printer in a few days. Here is a link to the specifics. <Snapmaker U1>
I already own a 4 color Creality K2PLUS FDM printer. It can be connected to 16 colors if that is a need or desire. Excellent quality printer but it is a single nozzle filament swap system.

Extruder Design (Pushing Limits)
There are many designs (variations) in FDM printer extruders. The basic concept is to feed a 1.75mm (or 2.8mm) round plastic filament to a melting device (hot end) and continuously deposit the resulting liquid flow of plastic in patterned layers on a build plate. One layer on top of the previous layer until a 3D item is produced.

A Key Design
I am a long time licensed Amateur Radio operator. Call sign W5EHS. I first started building electronics projects about age 10 in 1956. After my active Navy military service in 1969. an ET CPO John Petrec, W8BNO (SK), mentored me and gave me my novice operator test,
Now 56 years after my first radio license, and 69 years electronics experience, I am still fiddling with radio stuff.
A long time fellow ham. Jim Frank KW5CW was in my Youngstown, Ohio – Mahoning Valley Amateur Radio Association (MVARA club) back in my early radio days. WE are both now in the Dallas, Texas area and of course keep in close contact. Jim asked me to help design/build this project.
